Waneta Braddy Evans, 97, of Bluford, Illinois was called home at 7:10 P.M. November 17, 2018 at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born August 22, 1921 in Wayne County, Illinois to the late Thomas and Lillie (Shreve) Braddy. Waneta married Vernon Evans on September 16, 1939 in Fairfield, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly 50 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on June 16, 1989.
Waneta is survived by her children, Donald Ray Evans and wife, Sharon of Bluford, Illinois, Shirley Ellen Brown of Aurora, Illinois, and Wilma Ruth Crask of Wayne City, Illinois; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Wheeler of Rochelle, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Waneta was preceded in death by her children, Carolyn Sue Evans, Linda Lee Mays, and Vernon Leon Evans; grandsons, Gary Wayne Crask and Donald Duane Evans; four infant great-grandchildren; siblings, Norbet Scarbough, Virginia Bowler, Verda Feldkirchner, and infant sister, Freda Braddy.
Waneta was a member of the First Baptist Church in Channahon, Illinois. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Waneta was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life and Homegoing will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Archie Sanders Chapel in Wayne City, Illinois with Reverend Steve Griswold officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Waneta’s honor to the West Side Missionary Baptist Church or Wayne City Baptist Church.
