Vivian Marie Haley, 91, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 11:00 P.M. November 3, 2018 at her residence in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born February 6, 1927 in Bluford, Illinois to the late Glen and Alice (Jones) Hughes. She married Wilbur Haley on November 12, 1946 in Gulfport, Mississippi and he preceded her in death on July 5, 2015.
Vivian is survived by her nephew, Ralph Eugene Hughes and wife, Ruth of Bonnie, Illinois and two nieces, Louise Adams of Bonnie, Illinois and Jackie Hayes of Greenback, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents and husband, Wilbur, Mrs. Haley was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Hughes.
Vivian worked alongside her husband as an attendant for Hughey Funeral Home in Bluford and also Mount Vernon. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Mineweld in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church where she served as the Church Treasurer and later attended Meadowbrook Christian Church. She enjoyed her membership in the Jefferson County Historical Society. She will be fondly remembered as a sweet soul and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Mr. Michael Sheets officiating. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in rural Bluford, Illinois. Memorials, in loving memory of Vivian Haley, may be given to Oakdale Cemetery.
