Thomas "Pete" Timmons, 86, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 10:41 P.M. October 31, 2018 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital. Pete was born June 16, 1932 in Morganfield, Kentucky to the late Marion Gray and Lorraine (Buchanan) Timmons. Pete first married Ella (Graves) Timmons on December 26, 1950. She preceded him in death on November 10, 1985. He married Ruby (Baughn) Timmons on February 25, 1977 in Mount Vernon. She preceded him in death on August 28, 2018.
Pete is survived by his children, Dwight Timmons and wife, Cindy of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Randy Timmons and wife, Brenda of Scheller, Illinois, Mark Timmons and wife, Bobbie Jo of Jacksonville, Illinois, Lynette Tanner of Bonnie, Illinois, Sheila Ison and husband, Gary of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Stacey Weatherford and husband, Rick of Woodlawn, Illinois; grandchildren, Nathan Timmons, Josh Stein and wife, Marissa, Lucus Weatherford, Justin Timmons and wife, Emily, Bob Ison and wife, Andrea, Adam Ison, Blair Lowery and husband, John, Ben Timmons and wife, Ashley, Carl Weatherford, Kyle Timmons and wife, Aly, Chris Stein and wife, Sarah, Hannah Costa and husband, Patrick, and Nicholas Timmons; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wives, Pete was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jack Tanner; and grandchildren, Kristin Timmons and Matthew Mannen.
Pete was born and raised in Union County, Kentucky. He was a member of Central Christian Church in Mount Vernon, where he greatly enjoyed various types of volunteer work and being a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Pete was also a member of the Ainad Shriners and Jefferson County Masonic Lodge #368, in which he also served as a past Master. He and his wife were avid gospel music groupies. Pete also loved all things John Deere, especially tractors. Most of all, Pete loved the time he shared with his family. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Masonic Service will begin at 1:00 P.M., followed by the Funeral Service with Mr. Randy Sells officiating. Interment will follow at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Pete’s honor to Central Christian Church or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
