Ruby Timmons, 79, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 1:24 A.M. August 28, 2018 at SSM Health DePaul Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was born February 17, 1939 in Beggs, Oklahoma to the late Harold Edward and Thelma Ruby (Berryhill) Baughn. Ruby married Pete Timmons on February 25, 1977 in Mount Vernon.
In addition to her husband of 41 years, Ruby is survived by her children, Lynette Tanner of Bonnie, Illinois, Sheila Ison and husband, Gary of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Stacey Weatherford and husband, Rick of Woodlawn, Illinois, Dwight Timmons and wife, Cindy of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Randy Timmons and wife, Brenda of Scheller, Illinois, and Mark Timmons and wife, Bobbie Jo of Jacksonville, Illinois; grandchildren, Nathan Timmons, Josh Stein and wife, Marissa, Lucus Weatherford, Justin Timmons and wife, Emily, Bob Ison and wife, Andrea, Adam Ison, Blair Lowery and husband, John, Ben Timmons and wife, Ashley, Carl Weatherford, Kyle Timmons and wife, Aly, Chris Stein and wife, Sarah,Hannah Costa and husband, Patrick, and Nick Timmons; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Cameron Baughn and wife, Patty of Chicago, Illinois, Tom Baughn and wife, Carole of Madisonville, Kentucky, and Betty Gholson and husband, Tom of Crossville, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Matthew Mannen and Kristen Timmons; and son-in-law, Jack Tanner.
Ruby worked at Western Union and U.S. Bank throughout her life. She was a lifelong, faithful member of Central Christian Church. Ruby’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, September 2, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Mr. Randy Sells officiating. Interment will follow at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Ruby’s honor to the Alzheimer's Association or Epilepsy Foundation.
