Richard D. Roach, Sr., 62, of Mt. Vernon, died at 10:53 P.M. Saturday April 27, 2019 at his residence in Mt. Vernon. His loving wife Brenda was at his side at the time of his passing.
Richard was born in Gallipolis, Ohio on April 10, 1957 the son of Ira Lawson Roach and Edna (Adams) Roach. On March 27, 1982 he married Brenda Browder and she survives in Mt. Vernon.
In addition to his wife Brenda, he is survived by 4 sons: Richard Roach, Jr. and wife Ashley of Charleston, Illinois; Thomas Roach and significant other Krystal of Mt. Vernon; Tim Rainey and wife Michelle of Florence, AL and Mike Rainey of Mt. Vernon. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Dewayne Roach of Elgin, IL; Jerry Roach and wife Chrissy of Kingston, IL; 1 sister: Teresa Sutera and husband Cliff of Lake Zurich, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother Ira Lee Roach.
Richard had worked for the City of Mt. Vernon as the City Park Superintendent for over 31 years. He had also worked as a tow truck driver for McDermott’s Towing and Rick’s Towing, both of Mt. Vernon.
A visitation will be held on Friday May 3, 2019 from 5-8 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Funeral services will be Saturday May 4, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at Hughey Funeral Home with Rev. Don Verhines and Rev. Kent Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family of Richard Roach, Sr., in care of his wife, Brenda Roach and will be accepted at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
