Reverend Elbert L. Tolley, 89, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 9:45 A.M. April 25, 2018 at his residence. He was born October 4, 1928 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Vince and Climmie (Williams) Tolley. Elbert married Hazel (Pate) Tolley on March 21, 1952 in Chester, Illinois. They were blessed with 66 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, Elbert is survived by his sons, Ronnie Tolley and wife, Connie of Tussumbra, Alabama and Michael Tolley of Mount Vernon; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Elbert was preceded in death by his son, Terry Tolley; four sisters; and six brothers.
Elbert worked for many years as a manager of Glidden Paint Company and also as a pastor. He was a longtime member at Calvary Apostolic Pentecostal Church. Elbert’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
A Graveside Service will be held Monday, April 30, 2018 at 12:00 P.M. at Bethel Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Steve Edwards officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the cemetery. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Elbert’s honor to the Tolley Family, in care of Hazel Tolley.
