Randy R. McCoy, 71, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 6:50 P.M. April 30, 2018 at his residence in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born May 2, 1946 in Charles City, Iowa to James and Ida (Rademacher) McCoy. He married Alice Pointer on February 27, 1965 in Champaign, Illinois and she preceded him in death on May 7, 2004.

Randy is survived by his son, Steve McCoy and wife Deanna of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter, Terri Garrett and husband Allen of Montgomery, Alabama; special friend, Charlotte Snodsmith of Mount Vernon, Illinois; five granddaughters, Amanda Nicole Winchell and husband Steven, Ashli Marie Robinson and husband Justin, Jordan Elizabeth Bramlett, Randi Rae McCoy, and Jesi Annmarie Garrett; six great grandchildren, Urijah, Emerson, Zada, Violet, Xander, and Elias; three brothers, Patrick McCoy, James McCoy, III, and Timothy McCoy; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Mr. McCoy was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wayne Thelen and Daniel McCoy; and one sister, Carol Hughen.

Randy graduated from the University of Illinois.  He worked as a mechanical engineer and was the owner and co-founder of the McCoy and Howard Consulting and Engineering Inc. He enjoyed fishing, snow skiing, and golfing.  Mr. McCoy was a member of the Mount Vernon Elks (B.P.O.E.) Lodge 819 as the past exalted ruler and later trustee.  He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. An Elks Walk-Through will be held the evening of the visitation.  A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 4, 2018 at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Victor Long officiating.  Interment will follow. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
