Mildred Imogene Wilson, 90, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away February 10, 2018 at Saint Louis University Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was born October 4, 1927 in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late Kenneth Brook and Adah Gertrude (Casey) Schwenninger. Imogene married Neil A. Wilson on February 12, 1948 in Morganfield, Kentucky. They were blessed with 61 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on September 14, 2009.
Imogene is survived by her granddaughters, Julie Ann Koch and special friend, Scott Price of Opdyke, Illinois, Jana Beth Winkleman and husband, Adam of Carmi, Illinois, Jessica Lynn Daugherty and husband, Eric of Bluford, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Lee Daugherty, Gabriel Adam Winkleman, Emma Marie Daugherty, and Annabeth Winkleman; sister, Marieta Bauman and husband, Ray of Mulkeytown, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Imogene was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Wood; son, David Wilson; and siblings, Norma Geduldig, Larry Schwenninger, and Darrell Schwenninger.
Imogene worked for many years at Illinois Bell and at home as a homemaker. She was a member of Hams Grove Baptist Church and attended Logan Street Baptist Church. Imogene’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation: Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Funeral Service: Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Hughey Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Hayes officiating. Interment: Garrison Temple Cemetery in rural Bluford, Illinois.
