Mary Jones Dickey Flanagan, 90, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 8:26 P.M. May 30, 2018 at her residence. She was born July 21, 1927 in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late Olin and Ines (Rodgers) Hayes.
Mary first married Wayne Jones on March 13, 1946. He preceded her in death on August 29, 1983. She then married Donald Dickey on April 5, 1986. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1995. Mary later married Claude A. Flanagan on June 3, 2000. He preceded her in death on April 24, 2012. In addition to her husbands and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her siblings, James Hayes, Alice Fisher, and Doris Woods.
Mary is survived by her children, Mike Jones and wife, Paula of Bluford, Illinois and Marilyn Lusby and husband, Mike of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Jamie Lane and wife, Tamra of Sumter, South Carolina, Kevin Lusby and wife, Julie of Bluford, Illinois, Aaron Jones and wife, Gina of Braunfels, Texas, Ean Jones and wife, Kelly of Richmond Hills, Georgia, and Deron Daenzer and wife, Kelli of O’Fallon, Illinois; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Retta Estes and husband, Gene of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary worked as a seamstress for many years at Mode-O-Day Factory in Mount Vernon and Wayne County. She was an avid bowler and a member of Old Union Baptist Church. Mary’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Ralph Wilton officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Mary’s honor to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, American Diabetes Association, or Disabled Veterans National Foundation.
