Marvin E. Richardson, 81, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 11:05 A.M. March 4, 2019 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born February 18, 1938 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Kermit Richardson and Earlene Fairchild. He married Thelma Sue Tate on October 15, 1963 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly forty-two years of marriage before she preceded him in death on March 30, 2005.
Marvin is survived by his sons, Dewayne Breeze of Bluford, Illinois, Charles Patterson of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Marvin E. Richardson and wife, Heather of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughters, Cindy Blazier and husband, Jim of Woodlawn, Illinois, Kim Bevis and husband, Allen of Woodlawn, Illinois, Twila Gregory and husband, Mike of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Slyvia Thetford and husband, James of Mount Vernon, Illinois; twenty grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; brothers, Bobby Richardson of Johnston City, Illinois, David Richardson and wife, Brenda of Bluford, Illinois, Jerry Tolley of Mattoon, Illinois; sister, Linda McKinney of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Marvin was preceded in death by his grandson, Kyan Gage Richardson; brothers, Ronnie Richardson, Roger Richardson; and sister, Linda Mullinax.
Marvin worked as the Head of Maintenance for the Drury Inn for several years before retiring and he was a member of the Mount Vernon Eagles club for many years. Marvin was of the Pentecostal faith. He loved spending his Thursday nights with his family having dinner. Marvin loved his family very much and will be greatly missed.
It was Marvin’s request to be cremated; a visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A private family burial at Mount Olive Cemetery in Bluford, Illinois will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made American Cancer Association.
