Patricia Ann "Marie" Zinke, 77, of Mount Vernon, Illinois lost her courageous battle to cancer at 10:45 P.M. March 12, 2019 at her residence. She was born May 17, 1941 in Tonti Township in Salem, Illinois to the late Reuben Bryan and Dicie Pearl (Campbell) Rhoads. She married Frank William Zinke on May 6, 1961 at the First United Methodist Church in Collinsville, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly 50 years of marriage when he preceded her in death on December 23, 2010.
Marie is survived by her Son, William “Bill” F. Zinke of Mount Vernon, Illinois; two daughters, Angela Rae Boswell and husband, Rodger of O’Fallon, Illinois, and Andrea M. Becicka and husband, Brandon of Southlake, Texas; grandchildren, Alecia Zinke, Erika Zinke, Breanna Boswell, Bailey Boswell, and Brennan Becicka; three cousins; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was preceded in death by her two brothers, Marshall Rhoads and Eugene Rhoads and two sisters, Bernice Wickersham and Ruby Hayden.
Marie worked as a real estate broker, insurance agent, and also as a professor at Rend Lake College, teaching Real Estate Certification. She was of the Methodist Faith, was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a former member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club and the Red Hat Society. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, March 17, 2019 also at Hughey Funeral Home with Reverend Bud Storey officiating. Interment will follow at Alma Cemetery in Alma, Illinois. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
