Malcolm Patrick Hunt, 81, of Hammond, Indiana, formerly of Bluford, Illinois passed away at February 4, 2018 at his son's residence in Le High Acres, Florida. He was born September 17, 1936 on the family farm in Bluford, Illinois, Farington Township to Roy and Lillian (Shields) Hunt.
Malcolm is survived by his son, Craig Hunt and wife, Sheanna of Le High Acres, Florida; several grandchildren; two nephews; one niece; and one brother, Tommy Hunt of Brimfield, Illinois.
Mr. Hunt was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Jackie.
Malcolm attended several one room schools; Farrington, Lone Oak, and Ebenezer all in Jefferson County, and Longfellow in Peoria. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and later obtained a Master’s Degree from Indiana University. He taught Junior High School Social Studies in Calumet City, Illinois and later worked as an Independent Truck Driver for 35 years. He also worked in the real estate business. After suffering a stroke in 2017 he resided in his son’s home under hospice care until his death. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Friday, February, 9, 2018 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:30 with Pastor Brad Henson officiating. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Bluford, Illinois.
