Leota Mae Keef, 95, of Bonnie, Illinois passed away at 10:34 A.M. November 19, 2018 at Mount Vernon Health Care Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born March 3, 1923 in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late Nelson Martin and Ida Mae Joy. She married Delbert E. Keef on February 4, 1942 in Manchester, Tennessee. They were blessed with 63 years until he preceded her in death on May 19, 2005.
Leota is survived by her daughters, Charlotte K. Modlin and husband, John of Opdyke, Illinois, and Linda Fay Harper and special friend, Dennis Downs of Bonnie, Illinois; four grandchildren, Elaine Beever and husband, Edward of Bonnie, Illinois, Tammy Hendricks of Opdyke, Illinois, Nikki Strain and husband Jimmie of Bonnie, Illinois, and Chad Harper and wife, Natalie of Bonnie, Illinois; seven great grandchildren, Emily Beever, Jesse Hindt, John Beever and wife, Brittany, Abbie Strain, Kaelynn Hendricks, Mollie Strain, and Major Harper; five great great grandchildren, Jesse Beever, Justice Beever, Jaeci Beever, Jaxon Beever, and Mason Beever; and several nieces and nephews.
Leota was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, Cecil R. Martin, Gail Martin, Henry Martin, and Farrel Martin; two sisters, Virginia Meixell, and Sarah Lucille Martin; and son-in-law, Rod Harper.
Leota was a member of the Bakerville Freewill Baptist Church, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary unit #28, and the VFW Auxiliary Post #1376. She worked as a housekeeper and a caregiver for the elderly. Leota loved crafting, sewing, and babysitting her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
