K. M. "Red" Eldridge, 85, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away July 8, 2019 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born August 14, 1933 in Cutler, Illinois to the late Elza and Kathryn (Marlow) Eldridge. He married Joyce Carnahan on June 7, 1968 in Mount Vernon, Illinois and she survives in Mount Vernon.
In addition to his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Red is survived by his daughter, Julie Eldridge of Lake Worth, Florida; son, Brad Eldridge of Mount Vernon; grandson, Chase Eldridge of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Eldridge was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Ray Eldridge and sister, Shirley Jean Kelley.
Red proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He later worked for Mount Vernon Township High School for twenty-five years as the Civics Instructor, overseer of the high school work programs, and golf coach. He was a member of Central Christian Church, the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, and the Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association. Red was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, had a passion for golf, and loved his family more than anything. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
In honor of Red’s wishes no services will be held at this time.
Memorials, in Red’s loving memory, may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
