John Allen Glodo of Pinckneyville, Illinois died Saturday, September 7, 2019, at his home after an extended illness. He was born July 19, 1956, in Mount Vernon, Illinois. John was preceded in death by his parents, Henry A. and Nettie I. “Imogene” (nee Bardmas) Glodo and, among others, uncle and aunt Bill and Marie Moore. He is survived by brother Tom Glodo and wife Brenda of Pinckneyville with nieces Lindsay Glodo of Murray, Kentucky and Lauren Glodo of Marion; brother Mike Glodo and wife Vicki of Winter Park, Florida with niece Rachel Glodo of New Haven, Connecticut and nephew Samuel Glodo of Winter Park, Florida; and cousins Bruce (Julie “Boots”) Moore and Rod (Donna) Moore of Carterville.
John was a 1974 graduate of Pinckneyville Community High School and a veteran of the U. S. Army where he served on the DMZ in the Republic of Korea and was a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He worked in a variety of labor positions over his lifetime beginning at Chuck’s Sunoco and later for many years at Tree-O-Lumber sawmill in rural Pinckneyville.
John was a self-taught accomplished guitarist, having played in several bands over the years and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 930, in Pinckneyville, where he had many friends. John was known for his kindness toward others. He was cared for faithfully by brother Tom, sister-in-law Brenda, and a variety of kind friends during the period of illness leading up to his death. There will be a private interment at a date to be determined.
