Iva L Walker

September 20, 1930 ~ May 31, 2019 (age 88)

Iva L. Walker, 88, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 1:33 P.M. May 31, 2019 at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital In Mount Vernon. She was born September 20, 1930 in Greenville, Missouri to the late Harry and Jennie (White) Rainwater. Iva married Ernest Junior “Red” Walker on December 11, 1948 in Piggot, Arkansas. They were blessed with nearly 39 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on October 10, 1987.

Iva is survived by her son, Roger Walker and wife, Freda of Woodlawn, Illinois; daughters, Diana Anderson of Bloomington, Illinois, and Kathy Willis and friend, Paul Pfister, Linda Lee and friend, Dennis Smith, and Carla Ellis and husband Bobby, all of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Roger Walker, Jr., Julie Bullard, Susan Willmore and husband, Clint, Farrah Hagan and husband, Rich, Tim Anderson and wife, Amber, Jeremy Likens and wife, Emily, Tommy Twiggs, Jennifer Twiggs, Elizabeth Hodge, Christian Ellis and wife, Macey, and Shania Ellis; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Bullard, William Bullard, Kambria Willmore, Richie Hagan, Jabe Hagan, Brodie Likens, Liam Likens, Thomas Twiggs, Tristan Moore, and Lincoln Ellis; sister, Freda Starks of Warrenton, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Iva was preceded in death by her son, Larry Walker; five brothers; two sisters; and son-in-law, Mark Willis.

Iva was a member of the Marco Pentecostal Church in Mount Vernon. She enjoyed watching her birds in the yard, especially the Cardinals. Iva was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Hughey Funeral Home with Brother Alan Smith officiating.  Interment will follow at Wolfe Prairie Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Iva’s honor  to the Walker Family, in care of Carla Ellis.
