George D. Floyd, 68, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 10:30 A.M. March 2, 2018 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born June 19, 1949 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Norman and Mildred (Bullock) Floyd.
George is survived by his wife of nearly 15 years, Keyma (Fitzjerrells) Floyd of Mount Vernon; daughter, Wendi Caserotti and husband, Phil of Mount Vernon; granddaughter, Brittany Kryger of Denver, Colorado; stepdaughters, Tierney Shrum and Afton Shrum, both of Woodlawn; step-grandchildren, Kobey Elkins, Tyleah Shrum, Isaiah Shrum, Isaac Knappier, all of Woodlawn, and Jayden Goodwin of Mount Vernon; sister, Mary Winscott of Galatin, Tennessee; brother, Donald Floyd of Opdyke; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Emma Caserotti.
George owned and operated Geo’s Gas Station Bar and Lounge for many years. He also worked as a real estate developer in the Mount Vernon area. George was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 A.M. with Father John Iffert officiating. Interment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery. Memorials may be made in George’s honor to Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
