Obituary

Frank G. Bourland, 85, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 6:23 P.M. October 22, 2019 at Hospice of the Valley in Chandler, Arizona. He was born April 16, 1934 in Woodlawn, Illinois to the late Benjamin Franklin and Irene (Dycus) Bourland. He married Jacqueline (Fleury) Bourland on December 27, 1957 at the United States Air Force Base in Casablanca, Morocco and she preceded him in death on June 14, 2010.  He later married Shirley (Kirk) Bourland and she also preceded him in death.  On January 3, 2018 Frank married Kay (Krider) Bourland in Benton, Illinois and she survives in Springfield, Illinois.

In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his five sons, Roger Bourland and wife, Becky of Colorado, Dr. James Bourland and wife, Lucy of Austin, Texas, Steven Bourland and wife, Tina of Austin, Texas, Jeffrey Bourland and wife, Teresa of Gilbert, Arizona, and Creighton Bourland and wife, Blesselda of Laveen, Arizona; Fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Terry Bourland and wife, Claudine of Houston, Texas; sister, Sue Schneider and husband, Roger of Pawnee, Illinois; sister-in-law, Dana Bourland of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wives, Mr. Bourland was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Bourland

Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army and the United States Air Force for twenty-two years. Frank obtained a Master’s Degree in Criminology and worked as an agent for the United States Drug Enforcement Agency, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for twenty-five years. He later retired as a criminal investigator for the United States Army.  Frank was a member of the AMVETS, National Polygraph Association, American Polygraph Association, the Army Criminal Investigation Association, and the Mount Vernon Church of Christ on Ilbery Road in Mount Vernon, Illinois.  He was dearly loved and will be missed by his many family and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019. from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Merle Fullerton officiating. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #141 at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, SSM Hospice, or the American Cancer Society.
