Eleanor Fry Clarida, 97, of Altoona, Florida passed away on May 7, 2019 at Lakeview Terrace in Altoona, Florida, where she had lived for nearly 20 years since her retirement. She was born September 27, 1921 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Arthur and Bessie Schmitt. She first married Dr. John R. Fry who preceded her in death in 1975. She later married Jack R. Clarida of Johnston City, Illinois who preceded her in death in 2010.
Eleanor is survived by her three children, John D. Fry and wife, Evelyn of Naperville, Illinois, James M. Fry of Santa Monica, California, and Janice Fry Hill and husband, Mark of Hopatcong, New Jersey; four grandchildren, Christopher Fry, Jayna Fry, Kathleen Warner, and Jennifer Spulak; and six great grandchildren, Ashley Warner, Ariana Warner, Roman Fry, Jaidyn Buziecki, Sean Spulak and Elle Spulak.
Eleanor had worked at Douglas Aircraft in Chicago and at Oak Ridge National Laboratories during WWII. She had also worked at the First National Bank of Mount Vernon, IL, the State of Illinois Division of Specialized Care for Children in Murphysboro, IL, and at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL in the Office of the Treasurer. Eleanor loved music, was a talented seamstress and master of needlework arts, and traveled widely.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, Illinois with Reverend Victor Long officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the the Humane Society or to the National World War II Museum.
