Donald "Don" L. Odorizzi, 83, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 2:07 P.M. October 8, 2017 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born June 27, 1934 in Litchfield, Illinois to Victor & Grace (Woger) Odorizzi. He married Kathleen "Kathy" (Stewart) Travelstead on July 31, 1982 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Don is survived by his wife, Kathleen Odorizzi of Mount Vernon, Illinois; 4 children, Robert “Rob” Odorizzi and wife, Ramona of Litchfield, Illinois, Carrie Mershon and spouse, Tonya of St. Louis, Missouri, and Beth Hubbart (Travelstead) and husband, Jesse of Folkston, Georgia, and Megan Dearborn of Valrico, Florida; grandchildren, Heather, Lee and Robbie, Gabe and Catie, Sawyer and Keegan, Sammy, Nicholas, and Alex; great-grandchildren, Sydney, Trenton, Audrey, Carly, Gavin, and Connor; 2 sisters, Diane Odorizzi of St. Louis, Missouri and Vicky Odorizzi of Collinsville, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
Don served in the United States Army during the Korean War and later graduated with a degree in Engineering from University of Illinois. He worked at McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri, Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington, General Radiator in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Fedders in Effingham, Illinois and was the co-owner/operator of the Rend Lake Marina with his partner Max. He was a member of the Catholic faith and a member of the Elks Lodge #819. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 P.M. until memorial service time: 3:00 P.M. Friday, October 13, 2017 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Mr. Marty Mills officiating. A bural of ashes will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
