Delilah Ellen Peacock, 78, of Mattoon, Illinois passed away at 4:30 P.M. January 26, 2019 at her residence. She was born June 20, 1940 in Benton, Illinois to the late Fred G. and Tempa Lavada (Harrell) Reed. She married Richard Ray Peacock on June 6, 1965 and he preceded her in death on June 18, 2017.
Ellen is survived by her son, Christian Peacock and wife, Mary, of Lansing, Michigan; daughter, Lila Peacock and husband, Clark Medley, of Fairview Heights, Illinois; grandsons, Vinny and Ronin Peacock; granddaughters, Bella Medley and Megan Drone; sisters, Janet Mays and husband, Jim, of Mount Vernon, Phyllis Lockhart of Braidwood, Illinois, Linda Swinter and husband, Ian, of Belvidere, Illinois, and Shelia Plemons and husband, Kelvin, of Belleville, Illinois; and sister-in-law, Leona Reed of Indianapolis, Indiana.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Peacock was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Reed and Barry Reed and brother-in-law, Dick Lockhart.
Ellen worked as a Food Service Director and Dietetic Manager, through which she was a member of the Dietary Managers Association. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held from noon to 1:00 P.M. Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Merle Fullerton officiating.
