Cletus “Pete” Satterfield, 93, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 9:05 P.M. January 4, 2019 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born October 30, 1925 to the late Elza and Dolly (Reed) Satterfield. Pete married Betty Lou (Cole) Satterfield on April 9, 1950 in Mount Vernon. They were blessed with 68 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, Pete is survived by his children, Kevin Satterfield and wife, Nancy of Brunswick, Georgia and Lori Brookman and husband, Kevin of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Ryan Satterfield and Matthew Satterfield, both of Georgia, Tara Brookman of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Kyle Brookman and wife, Jennifer of Evans, Georgia; and daughter-in-law, Ann Satterfield of South Carolina.
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his children, Michael Satterfield and Mark Satterfield; and siblings, Verla Shepard, Clyde Satterfield, Vivian Pearson, and Evelyn Satterfield.
Pete proudly served in the United States Army and Air Force as a medical technician. He later worked as a salesman for thirty one years at Kraft Foods. Pete coached little league and khoury league baseball for many years. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was very active in PTO while his children were in school. Pete was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Hughey Funeral Home with Mr. Jason Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
