Charles "Danny" Peterson

October 10, 1946 ~ September 30, 2018 (age 71)

Charles Danny Peterson, 71, of Bonnie, Illinois passed away at 12:35 A.M. September 30, 2018 at Stonebridge Healthcare Home in Benton, Illinois. He was born October 10, 1946 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Charles Donald Peterson and Opal Louise (Hughes) Peterson. He married Judy Lamke on July 2, 1973 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with 45 years of marriage before he preceded her in death.

In addition to his wife, Danny is survived by his children, Michelle McGovern and husband, Tod of Waltonville, Illinois, and Charlie Peterson and wife, Yvette of Waltonville, Illinois; five grandchildren, Shalan Brase and husband Derek of Colorado, Seth McGovern of Missouri, Alyssa McGovern and fiancé Jeff Guest of Ashley, Illinois, Gage Peterson of Waltonville, Illinois, and Gunner Peterson of Waltonville, Illinois; and three great grandchildren, Bristol, Broghen, and Brielle.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles. 

Danny served his country proudly in the US Army. He was an avid bingo player and loved to play washers. Danny was a member of American Legion Post #141. He was a coal miner for twenty-eight years and later worked for the city of Mount Vernon. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Visitation: 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, Illinois. Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, Illinois with Chaplian Ernie Collins officiating. A flag presentation Ceremony will be held by members of the Mount Vernon American Legion Post #141.   Interment: Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Memorials: May be made to Cure PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) or to The Autism Society
