Barbara Jo (Stover) Woodworth

September 10, 1940 ~ June 24, 2018 (age 77)

Barbara Jo Woodworth, 77, of Bluford, IL went to be with the Lord at 3:54 A.M. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 surrounded by her husband of nearly 58 years, her children, and grandchildren.

Barbara was born September 10, 1940 to Harold and Kathryn (Hiatt) Stover in Bluford, IL. On September 17, 1960, she married the love of her life, Maurice Lee “Woody” Woodworth, in the parsonage of the United Brethren Church in Bluford.

Barbara was a 1958 graduate of Bluford High School. After graduating beauty school, she worked at the Bon Ton Beauty Salon. Later in life, she worked at Comprehensive Services until she started her “retirement job” at Drury Inn and worked there until 2012.

Barbara loved her family. She enjoyed taking care of them and fixing them meals as often as she could. She was devoted to reading her Bible and loved attending the Bluford Church of God with her church family. Barbara also took pride in keeping up her flowers and feeding her hummingbirds. She has been a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend to many and will be missed every single day.

Barbara is survived by her children, Michele Newton and husband, Jim Huffman of Benton, Jamie Myers of Mount Vernon, Shannon Woodworth and wife, Tanett of West Frankfort,  and Brooke Niederhofer and husband, Danny of Richview; grandchildren, Heather Esmon, Hollie Esmon, Bethany Braddock, Breanne Bergman, Haleigh Myers, Hannah Myers, Hunter Woodworth, Rayne Niederhofer, Lorren Niederhofer, Shana Woodworth, Britni Bateman, and Kasie Meneese; several great-grandchildren, Caleb Wilderman, Holly and Jeffrey Sledge, Valerie, Ross, Brock and James Bergman, Chelsea Edenfield, Aleksander Northcutt, Brinleigh and Bentley Esmon, Aubree Woodworth, and Leo Burke; brothers,  Vic Stover of Sparta and Rodney Stover of Bluford; sisters-in-law, Doris Minor and Louise Brucker; uncle, Jim Hiatt; aunt, Lora Donoho; nieces and nephews, Keyla Stover, Korey Stover, Shane Stover, Tammy Donoho, and Jamey Stover; and several other nieces and nephews-in-law and several great nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents; infant sister, Loretta Kay Stover; grandson, Branden Braddock; father and mother-in-law, Albert and Julia Woodworth; and brother-in-law, Charlie Woodworth.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1:00 P.M. Per Barbara’s wishes, she will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bluford Church of God.
