Anthony Lee Melton, 52, of Kell, Illinois passed away at 5:50 P.M. May 18, 2019 at his residence. He was born June 13, 1966 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Gary and Patsy (Morgan) Melton. He married Ginger Cline on October 8, 2016 and she survives in Kell.
In addition to his wife, Anthony is survived by his mother Patsy Chelf and boyfriend, Bob Newman of McLeansboro, Illinois; children, Danielle Melton and boyfriend, Nick Hercules of Mount Vernon, Jaime Childers and husband, Derick of Mount Vernon, Collin Melton of Kell, Adam McCowen and wife, Danielle of DuQuoin, and Patrick McCowen of Herrin; grandchildren, Matthew Utlaut, Paige Utlaut, Preston Utlaut, Teagen Childers, Jeslyn Childers, Adelin Childers, Gavin McCowen, Gaige McCowen, and Paisley McCowen; brother, Mike Melton of Bonnie; sister, Angie Pierce and wife, Dana Choate of O’Fallon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Gary Melton; stepfather, Bill Chelf; grandparents; nephew, Joshua Melton; two cousins; and several aunts and uncles.
Anthony worked as a LTL driver for Dayton Freight for several years, and regarded his work family as a second family. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, May 24, 2019 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Hughey Funeral Home with Reverend Bud Storey officiating. Interment will follow at South Hickory Hill Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Memorials, in Anthony’s loving memory, may be made to the American Cancer Society.
