Anna Jean Ellis, 85, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 2:00 P.M. February 6, 2018 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born December 5, 1932 in Marion County, Illinois to Estel & Opal (Branson) Meador. She married Ray H. Ellis on July 23, 1955 and he preceded her in death on June 1, 2007.
Mrs. Ellis is survived by her son, Roy Ellis and wife, Kelley of Mount Vernon, Illinois; 2 daughters, Rhonda George of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Raegena Cates and husband, Jim of Salem, Illinois; 5 grandchildren, Frank Thompson, III and wife, Jacenta of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Jeremy Thompson of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Brian Ellis of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Amelia Ellis of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Sara Ellis of Mount Vernon, Illinois; 9 great-grandchildren, Garrett, Shalynn, Romy, Howie, Ireland, Jaiden, Shelby, Jase, and Jaylen; great-great-grandchild, Wyatt; 2 sisters, Barbara Owens and Joyce Collins; sister-in-law, Joy Meador; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special thank you to cousin Sylvia Lane.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Roberta Dean Ellis; 3 brothers, Ivan Meador, Mervin Meador; and Melvin Meador; and an infant brother, Robert Meador.
Mrs. Ellis worked with her husband on the farm and at Mode-O-Day Garment Factory. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation: 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, February 9, 2018 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Merle Fullerton officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials: Donor's Choice.
